What is/was your preferred method to put together your Class As or Dress blues?

I used a special ruler that you can get from a sewing store for measuring seams. It has a special slider on it so you can get very precise measurements.

I was able to setup my blues (and greens before that) going by eye. If I had any doubt for spacing that is when the ruler and 670-1 came out. But usually it was not needed.

I've put so many dress uniforms together (for me and others) that I can damn near eyeball the measurements. But if and when I have any doubts, I always have a ruler standing by.

I paid a lady at a tailor shop when ever I got promoted. I never took anything off but my ribbon rack to add to it. I marked the holes inside the coat so they would go back in the same place. Oh and I never washed it for 7 years! I know...gross. Never failed an inspection though!

Altough I know the dimensions by heart, but I still use the ruler and pocket guide. Invest in the Mil-Thin ribbons if you can.

I used a Vernier Caliper, works great when measuring for the "mirror image" on L/R sides of the uniform that are the same.

I personally eye everything, then go in and doublecheck with the ruler. Then touch everything up with a qtip to remove prints. Too easy.

Eyeball it, with a ruler for back up. I also use a set of white officer dress gloves to place the brass and do any touch ups. Those gloves work well for touching up your soldiers bling too

I had this little plastic thing that identified the distances. It came with some book but for the life of me I don't remember what it was.

I've taken class As apart and put them back together so many times, I MIGHT use a seamstress ruler for the ribbon rack and that's it. It's too easy.

Mine were handed to me already done at Oakland Army Base. Just needed to put on 6th Army patch once I knew where I was going.
