I've asked around here and nobody seems to know for sure what the answer is to the below question.

Do I need to take leave if I'm leaving the local area strictly on non-duty days? For example, if I leave Thursday evening after duty hours, Friday is an observed holiday, and I return Sunday. I get mixed answers and I'm not quite following the AFI on it. If anybody has an answer for this or can reference the part of the AFI that covers this I'd greatly appreciate it!What is the USAF Leave policy while on TDY for non-duty days?2019-05-13T16:34:43-04:00TSgt Private RallyPoint Member4632255

I looked up the AFIs and perhaps I missed it or I'm just not understanding it. Stand by

After reviewing AFI 36-3003, the only thing I can find in regards to Leave and TDY is that Special and Regular passes can't be used to extend TDY. But, if you are in the middle of your TDY, and want to take a Special Pass for the kind of days you are talking about, I would say that just a Pass request is all you need....again, as long as you aren't trying to extend your TDY days. I found nothing that you have to submit a Leave Request to take the kind of days you are talking about.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 13 at 2019 4:46 PM2019-05-13T16:46:10-04:002019-05-13T16:46:10-04:002019-05-13T16:34:43-04:00
