I know medical retirement is counted as well as 20 year retirement.

My question is about the limits of medical retirement. Is it just MEB separation? VA disability rating? VA rating of 30%? 50%?

Should be medically retired.
Not put out on a medical.
Receiving retired pay due to medical retirement.
That's what I'd go with.

SPC Elijah J. Henry, MBA I do not think RallyPoint has a standard. Some folks may say they are retired military that do not fit the retirement criteria. I agree with you that the two ways to retire are medical retirement or a 20 year retirement.

There should exist no bias with regular and medical retirement.

Not speaking for RP, and there is no difference between a retiree or Veteran in my mind. With regard to retiree versus Veteran, in general:
Retirement based on Length of Service (LOS, Chapter 12), Chapter 61 (medical retirement and TDRL), or Temporary Early Retirement Act (TDRA)(1993 - 2001) = Retired.
Medical separation (w/wo compensation) = Veteran.
VA rating has no bearing in whether a former SM is retired.

The retired indicator is something that is managed by the member, not RallyPoint. So like everything else in your profile, it should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. My guess is that members go by what is on their DD214 (box 23 I think). If that doesn't say you're retired, then you're not retired. But again, we can't be the DD214 Police - we just ask members be honest with other members about who they are.
