What is the purpose of the Available for Employment group? How should the group members use this group to help each other?

I found out yesterday that I am part of this group. Not sure how I was assigned. I posted a comment on the only discussion posted here and tried to upload a canvas and learned that only an administrator could.
I think this groups should benefit RallyPoint members who want to be employed. I would be interested in learning how that could be accomplished. Anybody have any good ideas?

**Speculation, as I'm not an employee of the site**

This group exists more as a place holder than anything else. It is an identifier for posts/articles made my employers to identify themselves as seeking employees. With this groups existence, relevant information will be more easily found through search utilities.

Also, it would seem that the goal is that anyone is seeking employment need simply join this group and be easily identified and found, and more easily communicate with those of similar interests.

As far as ideas on how to improve this system: If you figure out a really good one, I bet RallyPoint will hire you, as it has a long way to go before this is an effective place to actually land a job. Don't get me wrong. RallyPoint is a FANTASTIC place for networking professionally, where most career sites fail miserably at this. Perhaps forming a partnership that allows LinkdIn and RP to share information, or teaming up with one of those career sites to share job-seeker information so that employer/employees can find each other.

LTC Stephen F. The Veterans group site if meant for posting on Veteran specific issues. You will see a number of questions with job links in other group postings as well. I have not seen any hard rules on where items are posted.
You can feel free to look up the prior job posting questions or create your own question, which has a wizard that may help you find the prior job posting question.

The Dialogue here leads to an exchange of information and knowledge and ideas and beliefs, that we can accept or reject, but most important it gives all an opportunity to practice interpersonal communication and respect which is what veterans needs as they deal with civilian employees and co-workers, because we at times do not fit in into the civilian world around us. I like to think that there are two kinds of Rally Point people here, one comes with a full cup of coffee that he or she is willing to share, that cup may have bitter coffee or maybe too sweet, While another comes with and empty cup and accepts portions of coffee from the other combining both bitter and too sweet and walks away with a find cup of coffee.

Well for starters sir I think sharing information of who is hiring once someone gets employed - also job fair information and also possibly provide interview questions (the generic ones not the ones specific to job) that where asked with responses so others can see and maybe critique and provide feedback. This feedback could be extended to looking at each other resumes. Just for starters.

I am lost in all this group stuff that wasn't here before. The obscene amount of notifications I get about things I do t care about and didn't choose to participate in (like this thread and 1000 more like it) had me running to the hills away from this site. I liked the easy navigation and casual usage it used to provide. It is WAY too much for me now. I am also employed but this site is so convoluted I no longer know how to use it or change anything or navigate much of anything. So to answer your question: I have no clue. I am as seriously perplexed as you are.
