What is the protocol for addressing members on the list, vis-a-vis, retired/vets?

Unless you're going to activate me, "Bob" is just fine. I feel close to certain members, and given enough time, will grow closer to more. You've earned that respect and honor, and I do NOT want to be "that guy" who takes it from you.

I normally go by my name Jonathan, but I've been called much worse! ;)

Although my favorite is Dad. :)

I try to maintain the respect... but it is more out of playful respect than because I have to. And if I am told not to, I try to do as they wish... But I was raised to say yes sir/ma'am no sir/ma'am, please and thank...

SSG William Wall Funny, even in retirement, I have a hard time calling former bosses and CSMs by there 1st names. I could never call a retired General by their 1st name.

SSG William Wall I generally go by Steve. I know many soldiers from SPC to GEN and I call each of them by their first name in private communication.
On active duty and USAR duty I was carful to address people by their rank and last name unless we were the same rank.

@SSG William Wall I usually go by Mikel (pronounced Michael) and some just call me the Colonel. I'm good either way. I usually call everyone by their first name and I use military courtesy when addressing General Officers (with "Sir") and/or until otherwise advised. That's my 2 cents

I treated all with respect and dignity unless I get slapped in the face. Active, retired, served and out, I respect them for their service and serving.
