What is the process to become a state certified firearm instructor? What organizations offer certification?

In looking to enhance my firearm knowledge I'm hoping to tap into the shooter base on RP as I'm looking into getting certified as a firearm instructor. I'd like to know more about the process and as well what organization to do it through as there seem to be a number of options. I'm in IL and the state has their own requirements which seem pretty straight forward however looking for help, advice and training.

Every state differs. In NC you must take their course. I suggest you take some of the NRA courses. I am NRA certified basic pistol , range safety officer, and a couple more.

I wish you best on getting your State Certification for your state, there are alot of firearms personnel on RP, and I know they will be giving you what you need to know. There is a Gun and Firearms group on RP too.

Most likely the NRA will be your source for certification. I did my LE handgun, shotgun, and patrol rifle through them.

Take other courses as well. The more variety in your background the better you’ll be. Think of it like taking all the good stuff and compiling it into your way.

Each state is different. In Texas you must take instructor certification course through the Depth. Of Public Safety. You should also seek other certifications such NRA Instructor Certification. Build up a resume of qualifications. You can never have too much training.
