What is the political sentiment regarding 2018 election on RP? Are daily arguments about politics, democracy and government still routine? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-political-sentiment-regarding-2018-election-on-rp-are-daily-arguments-about-politics-democracy-and-government-still-routine

I am still recovering from 2016. I mean to say that the hostility and arguments over the political divide on RP and in the world scarred me for life! As my Drill Sargent used to say, "I'm gonna scuff you up, 1st Platoon!" The scuffing by the Drill Sargent and the scuffing from the political rhetoric may have originated from two different sources, but the result is always the same: confusion, manic depression, complete fatigue and complete submission! "But, but, drill Sargent, what did we do now?" "Just beat your face until I tell you to stop, Privates!" "Yes, Drill Sargent!"

In my personal effort to recover, I tried regulating the content from the posts on RP so that I can breathe and not experience a barrage of information attacks at least on this website. I think I may have been at the very least, a little bit successful. I am asking the above question to determine whether I should lift the regulation ban on content originating from the RP comments. I thought he was wrong. he thought I was wrong. if we had been face-to-face, it might have gotten heated, maybe some raised voices. but, unlike all these non-veterans, I respect his point of view and his right to it. I find that is the attitude of probably 99% of the members here. Some of us more than citizen these days than soldier. Our interests span the entire spectrum of human endeavor and that includes politics. Yes, it's been bitter. To be fair, the run up to the election was nothing. Hillary was expected to win and the GOP sideshow, well, just a sideshow. The real trouble didn't start until he won. Imagine that. Donald Trump won. In all my 73 years up to that point, we prayed for our President regardless of who it was, what party he belonged to, whether or not we voted for him. As much as we'd all like to turn our backs on the resulting craziness, that's what got us here. We turned our backs on politics. Confess it. I do. I really didn't care or pay much attention to Washington or my state capitol or my local board of whatever. I didn't care much about government and I didn't think it cared much about me. I was wrong. There were plenty of people who cared and they have taken advantage of our inattention. Now, we can turn our backs again, thinking they're all nuts (which they are) and let the tide roll over us. It's like when I first took my children to the beach. I warned them, Never turn your back on the ocean. Well, politics is as powerful as the ocean, and progressivism is the tide that's going to drown us in tyranny. Don't like it? Well, neither do I. But that's the way it is. If our person voted official is not elected these days, we throw fits for 4-years and act like 5-yr olds with a temper tantrum. We then stick to party lines and vote against everything the other party has to offer, good or bad.
I mean, can you imagine if the people, the government all got behind the president like on 9/11 and supported him/her on every issue, where or not they agreed? We’d actually get some stuff done in DC for the good of the country - wouldn’t you say? So to answer your question, until the legislative branch gets behind the presidents policy, agenda and promotes forward progress, we will always have “divide”... Will we not? Whatever happened to being able to agree to disagree?
