Thanks for sharing CSM Charles Hayden. To be honest the oldest dog tags I have seen in person are my own. Thanks for showing us a dog tag from a DSC awardee from North Africa in WWII.

That is the strangest thing I've ever seen. I've seen older dog tags, but never one with a home address. I would love to know the rationale behind that practice.

CSM Charles Hayden, these are my father's (Jack Curlee) dog tags from his time in the Navy during WWII. Here's a legend for the info indented on the metal blank: First name, Middle name, Last name, Serial number (deleted), Date of last tetanus shot, Branch of service, Blood type. The dog tag used is the Navy P1940 model. Although my father was an officer (LTJG), the information included is the type for enlisted personnel, as he started as a seaman apprentice in the V-12 program. Also, there is no religious preference shown which is of note as it was standard to do so.
My father died on 10SEP15, at the ripe old age of 93, so I'm now the custodian of his effects from his time in the service.

CSM Charles Hayden My father was an Air Force pilot who was killed when his plane crashed on a training mission. His dog tags have a home address.
