Met him in person during GF1, had faith in him, and believed he would do right by the Nation- and he did!

I was a young kid when he was President, so don't really remember him at all other than the old guy at Astros games sitting behind home plate. And having a son who started a war in Iraq for no real reason.

I remember a bunch of MILs being pissed at him during DS-1. The Saudis were paying 100% war bonuses. Brits, French, etc. took them up on it. HW said no. Over time, people understood that his position was we aren't mercenaries nor is a bonus appropriate for doing what was morally right. But then the missed money loomed much larger. I remember being all over the place then. HW appeared to be an awkward CinC in the sense that he never was a cozy up to the couch type of guy on the TV. Too bad, because I hear he was quite the opposite. But NOBODY questioned his order once given. The media pretty much brutalized him as well because he was from the wrong Party.
