I'm assuming that since it is not expressly forbidden under AR670-1 that it comes down to the commander's discretion, just looking for clarification. I was really glad to see that thing go. The Garrison cap was fine, even good looking BACK when it could be worn cocked to the right and tilted forward. "Tow fingers off the ear and One off the eyebrow, like in World War Two, but when they changed the regulation to it having to be worn straight up and down in line with the center of the face, that ruined that hat. That along with making it so stiff that it could not be broken on the ends. As seen from the front the final version of the Dress Green Garrison Cap looked like a Dunce Cap. We used to call it the Dopey the Dwarf hat. The privilege of earning the right to wear a beret is one reason I went to Jump School.
I know it is coming back with the AGSU. I do hope that the Service Cap for the AGSU can be worn like Gen Miley is wearing it, with a stiffener because this new Service Cap with the copy of the "50 Mission Crush" and the High front design just looks stupid.Response by SSG Roger Ayscue made Sep 21 at 2022 4:56 PM2022-09-21T16:56:09-04:002022-09-21T16:56:09-04:00SSG Walter Corretjer7897655

The problem with the Army and the
AR 670-1 is precisely the extreme permissiveness on regard to the decision process granted to the commanders when uniforms decisions are made.Nowadays the tendency on this generation is toward the informality, very bad attitude, and leaders in the military have been influenced as well in the use of the right uniform for the right moment. As a result of this, the commaders don't care to much on how they look,to the point of using the ACU as and all weather, all purpose, all ocassions, all activities, almost all the time in today's military experience.
This is totally wrong, substandard under all views, and should be stopped once and for all.
The AR 670-1 has to be specific under all circumstances on when one uniform or another has to be used, and the directive has to be mandatory for the event given, not the decision of one commander or another but an all army standard directive order on uniforms use and not whatever they wish to dress for any occasion as it is right now.
The dress uniforms have to be used for almost eveything in the military, except combat, field training or heavy duty in garrison. All other activities, especially: ceremonials, parades, graduations,
promotions,office work,classroom training,and travelling by air,car or train on orders.Response by SSG Walter Corretjer made Sep 26 at 2022 3:44 PM2022-09-26T15:44:30-04:002022-09-26T15:44:30-04:002022-09-21T15:24:22-04:00
