What is the Flight Warrant Officer application process and requirements for active duty?

Is it possible to drop a Warrant Officer packet as a PFC, if I am ASVAB and Sift qualified? Can I drop the package as soon as I get to my first unit?

For one I am happy that you are interested in becoming a Warrant so soon, however, and you knew that was coming if you are wanting to become a technician you will need to have been in for certain amounts of time and they do vary, take a look at the requirements on the Army Warrant page here, http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/prerequ/WO153A.shtml now then if you want to go flight that is a completely different story though because you can do that High-school to Flight School if you have completed all the prerequisites. Good luck and God Speed in your endeavors.

Sir, I was reading a bullet in that link that stated:
All In-Service applicants must have a digitally signed letter of recommendation from an Army Aviator (CW3 to CW5) currently serving (Not Retired). In-Service Applicants may supplement (not replace) the Army Aviator (CW3-CW5) LOR with hand signed LOR's from Retired Army Aviators as desired. Active or Retired Army Aviator LOR’s for Non-In-Service applicants (WOFT) is encouraged but not required. If the unit commander or above is a field grade aviator, the aviator interview may be part of the commander's endorsement. In this case, the commander's endorsement must contain the same statement required for the aviator interview. Use a memorandum format and start with the statement I have interviewed (your name) and find (he/she) has the needed personal characteristics, motivation, physical stamina, and qualifications to be appointed a U.S. Army Reserve warrant officer and appears acceptable for selection into the WOFT program as a warrant officer candidate. Applicants from other military services may be interviewed by a field grade aviator from their branch of service if an Army aviator is not readily available. Army aviators will conduct the interviews whenever possible.
My CO is an Aviation officer. Could this mean that his recommendation/interview be a great help in getting me selected at the board?

If your commander a Field Grade officer? LTC or above Major and Below are staff grade officers, therefore if he is LTC by all means that will help and he may be able to assist you with locating a CW3-CW5 for the LOR that you will need, the biggest thing about becoming a Warrant at least from my perspective and I am sure that there are at least a few out there with it, I personally do not care what your commander states about you although it is required documentation, I care more about what my peers think and say about the potential candidate, if I were you I would contact one of the POC's listed in the link and ask there opinion and advice, because at the end of the day one of those gentlemen are going to be the final decision makers, I hope that helps with your question.

Yes you can but, do you think your commander, the senior warrant and the Battalion Commander will recomend you without knowing what you made of?

You can drop a packet at any time. Have you already taken the SIFT and if so what was your score. Have you done a flight physical yet? If not I would get that taken care of as that is a non negotiable step to getting to flight school. I agree to a point with SSG Mboup the letter of recommendation is going to be the thing you are going to have to work to get. Most senior Warrant Officers won't write just anyone a letter. Get to your unit, get to know the pilots that you work with and then broach the subject of a letter of recommendation. Make sure your packet is complete before discussing this, I can only speak for myself but I won't write a letter until the Soldier has completed their packet. It shows that you are serious and not wasting anyone's time. This is just my two cents. If you have any other questions DM me and I will help where I can. Sir, I am currently working on the SIFT test. I have a 130 line score on the ASVAB. Also I am working on becoming MOSQ for 15T, so I will have a good understanding on the mechanics and component identification of a helicopter. I got a SIFT study guide and my old pre calc and calc books to practice with from college. So I am hopeful about the SIFT test. The flight physical may be hard to get right now, but I am sure with a little persistence and some help from my NCOs I could get one while I am here or on leave. For letters of recommendation I currently have a retired 2 star Marine Aviator (Cobra Pilot), a retired Marine COL and an active duty 1st LT from the Air Force. All who know me very well. I am also in the process of trying to meet with my CO in order to get a letter from him since he is a Active Duty Army Pilot. Do you think this may be a good start to the recommendation process aside from needing a Flight Warrants letter?

It is a good start for sure. Study for the SIFT and only take it when you know you are ready. When you pass you are stuck with your score forever, you can not retake it. Your passing score is the final one you get. You need a letter of recommendation from a CW3 or higher or an O4 or higher aviator. I would recommend they be Army. If you are currently at AIT, you don’t want to drop your WOFT packet right away. Give it a little time to get the pilots that you will work for to get to know you, you will need letters of recommendations from them for your packet.
