What is the fast promotion, post Korea, from E2 - E7 you've seen?

I haven't. But I was in Aviation, which can be slow from E5-E7.

I had a cousin who went from E-7 to O-5 in the Air Force in four years.
Long story.
Short version is, he was a language and culture expert on Russia and spent a lot of years in the embassy in Moscow doing sundry work - the substance of which I can only guess at. Nearing 35, he went to OCS, figuring he'd get out as a Captain instead of an E-8.
He gets assigned as a 2LT to a recruiting wing after the USAF cut way back in structure in the mid-'90s in order to be closer to his father who was ailing from recurring brain cancer. Six months later, he gets a call from an office in the Pentagon saying that he is "among the most senior, qualified personnel in the USAF" to fill a senior Russian Affairs billet. After being told to volunteer, he gets frocked to first Captain, then Major in a matter of months.
Ended up getting out as an O-5 a few years later.

After 9/11 when the Navy rapidly expanded the Master-at-Arms rating you would see E7s that had 5-6 years of service. I have seen some nuclear trained guys make E7 at 7 years.

Mine. Selectee for E7 in 7 years, 10 months. I didn't extend for the promotion for a number of reasons.
