Nearing 35, he went to OCS, figuring he'd get out as a Captain instead of an E-8.<br />He gets assigned as a 2LT to a recruiting wing after the USAF cut way back in structure in the mid-'90s in order to be closer to his father who was ailing from recurring brain cancer. Six months later, he gets a call from an office in the Pentagon saying that he is "among the most senior, qualified personnel in the USAF" to fill a senior Russian Affairs billet. After being told to volunteer, he gets frocked to first Captain, then Major in a matter of months.<br />Ended up getting out as an O-5 a few years later. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 30 Aug 2016 03:24:18 -0400 2016-08-30T03:24:18-04:00 Response by SCPO Jason McLaughlin made Aug 30 at 2016 5:31 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-fast-promotion-post-korea-from-e2-e7-you-ve-seen?n=1848120&urlhash=1848120 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>5.5 Years SCPO Jason McLaughlin Tue, 30 Aug 2016 05:31:46 -0400 2016-08-30T05:31:46-04:00 Response by LT Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 30 at 2016 5:59 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-fast-promotion-post-korea-from-e2-e7-you-ve-seen?n=1848138&urlhash=1848138 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>After 9/11 when the Navy rapidly expanded the Master-at-Arms rating you would see E7s that had 5-6 years of service. I have seen some nuclear trained guys make E7 at 7 years. Selectee for E7 in 7 years, 10 months. I didn&#39;t extend for the promotion for a number of reasons. PO1 Mike Dean Sun, 23 Jul 2017 09:39:02 -0400 2017-07-23T09:39:02-04:00 2016-08-29T20:53:46-04:00
