What is the crime rate in Texas since becoming an Open Carry State?

Does anyone have any status updates or youtube news post that can clarify the difference in gun law and gun control in Texas? Just wondering..

There's been anecdotal evidence that the rate of excessive strutting has increased above the already record high levels normally found in Texas. ;)

Hell it went into effect 20 days ago, were people expecting crime rates to change that fast? Hell I live in the burbs of DFW and haven't seen anyone carrying openly, yet. I haven't, I still carry concealed.

This report from the Sherman, Texas, Herald-Democrat reports very few incidents as of 18 JAN 16.

Texas law tasks the Department of Public Safety with compiling and reporting conviction data. DPS posts the data annually on the DPS website. 2013 is the most current data.

Did you really expect a crime increase ?
Statistics show that people that are legally able to carry a firearm are less likely to commit a crime.

Washington state allows open carry in most counties without a permit
Still required to have a permit of you conceal carry and to get a permit in Washington state all you have to do is walk in pay the fee , get fingerprinted , they run a background check and if you are clean you get a permit

Texas you are required to attend a class , qualify with your weapon , do fingerprints , send everything in and then wait

I have had a concealed handgun license for over 15 years and when I moved to Texas I did everything in December and I am still waiting for the permit which is required to open carry or conceal carry , it's called a LTC (license to carry )

The laws regarding weapons in Texas are a lot more restrictive than you would believe

If you want to know more look up the Texas penal code 30.06 and 30.07
