Assuming the Soldier was fully qualified and eligible, they just call HRC promotions branch and ask them to fix it.
However, it's usually the issue that the Soldier was not completely eligible. Whether it's flag that didn't lift in time, something expired, or the schoolhouse didn't update their NCOES in time, it's almost always the case that the Soldier fell off the promotion standing list for some reason or other. If that happened, even if it was in error, there is nothing the Soldier can do other than wait till the next month. You can talk to I.G. ,but always go up the chain of command with the request to speak to the I.G. "I would hand carry it myself" unless under threat of harm. If you have witnesses to whatever dates times this direct knowledge in the cause of a negative event it would be a good idea to have that handy. Also I worked as an Equal Opportunity Interviewer for the EEO. THEY CAN HELP TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM OR JUST GATHER FACTS AND STATEMENTS FROM BOTH SIDES BEFORE THE I.G IS NEEDED(THE INFO IS DATED I GOT OUT DOD 2008 AND i'M A LITTLE DATED TO LOL I HOPE THIS HELPS.
