What is the best way to handle having duty only on weekends and a superior who doesn't allow comp days?

I've had CQ only on weekends for about a year, which has really started getting at me, fortunately I have a new PSG that allows comp days after weekend duty. My SL is not tracking this and is the type to believe an NCO is always right(not saying this is a bad thing). What is the best way to tactfully talk to my SL about this? It's worth noting he's a great man whose gone to bat for me, I don't want to burn bridges or go over his head.

I had CQ every weekend no matter what. I just did the job regardless of how bad it was sometimes.

A: Pretty sure your PSG is an NCO and outranks the SL, so according to your SL, your PSG, an NCO is always right and outranks the SL...thus, you get comp time
B: what DA Form 6 is YOUR leadership using to get you weekend duties only? Better, what policy or reg are they following in the use of the DA Form 6?
After that....a private word to the PSG, "Sergeant, if you could mention in platoon formation or your leaders meeting your stance on comp time for weekend duties Id appreciate it, and I don't want this to be a "got him" kind of thing so I really like this to just be you making sure our leaders know your position..not a because someone complained kind of deal"

I've never gotten comp time for having duty on a weekend. If I had duty on Sat I didn't get Mon off. It's always the next day is "recovery" except when I pulled SDO in one unit. But then you were allowed to sleep during night so we didn't get the next day off.

Your PSG says you get comp time so if the SL isn't giving it,take it up to the PSG.

Are you literally having it every single weekend the last year? That's weird. That needs to be brought up too.

Military members getting comp time? Really? I thought we expected to be on duty 24 X 7 X 365. If your leadership is offering days off to make up for weekend duty, that's a benefit, not an entitlement. (BTW this isn't the same for Army Civilians who do get comp time for working outside of their normal duty hours.) I recommend you don't approach your Squad Leader immediately about this issue. Give a little time for the new PSG to establish his or her leadership and policies. The situation may be self-righting. Pick your battles carefully. If you bring it up to the PSG now, he or she might decide to kill it for everybody.

Last time I checked, Platoon Sergeant trumps Squad Leader. If the Platoon Sergeant says you're off on Monday after a weekend CQ, then you're off on Monday.

I had to read this a few times.... Still not tracking comp days? Unless Sunday CQ or staff duty..... Even upon many times I still did battery PT. Suck it up, wait til deployed

Update: Took SGM's advice and it worked. My unit is also redoing how they hand out duty to fix problems
