It's a typical first filter requirement. If your degree is a BA History, that works, but is limiting otherwise. Tickets in the sciences, computers, engineering, etc. become paid for springboards later on for O-3s seeking graduate programs. I'm not aware of waivers, but don't expect them to be around in a downsizing environment. They are looking for ways to say "no" to most things people want to do.

BTW there are various degree programs you can work on while AD. SIU is a common one. CAPT Kevin B. Make a track record to back up your desire for commissioning. The Army will be looking at a record of learning ability. 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 06 Jan 2017 14:53:19 -0500 2017-01-06T14:53:19-05:00 Response by LTC Kevin B. made Jan 6 at 2017 4:57 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-best-way-to-go-green-to-gold-in-the-states-i-have-no-college-at-the-moment-just-looking-for-tips-and-tricks?n=2223275&urlhash=2223275

I didn't go through the Green-to-Gold program, but I did go a similar path. I finished out my initial 3-year contract, and then immediately applied to college. Once accepted, I immediately started talking to the ROTC department. The ROTC departments tend to like prior-service applicants who have a strong, and clean, service record. LTC Kevin B.
