Fort Irwin has been one of the strangest installations in regards to housing options and process. Depending on the number of bedrooms qualified for, will highly determine neighborhood choices. You also can't sign for a house until you sign into post from leave. I arrived in October and luckily we have family in Southern California cause we waited for the housing we wanted. Otherwise we might have had to take what was available at the time. Depending on where you're coming from, the housing here can seem run down in some areas. Overall it's a very quiet post and my family and I enjoy the isolated feel. Call us crazy. If you need to know any specifics just let me know.
