What is the best / most unique opportunity you had because you enlisted?

I got to spend a week in the North Korean Capitol of Pyongyang. We walked through building 3 at JSA, and drove to Pyongyang. I can actually say I've seen freedom village from the north side, and I have a pic of the South Korean building from the North.

I also was one of the 500 paratroopers at the 50th anniversary D-day jump in 94.

I went into East Berlin before the Wall fell....Checkpoint Charlie! Was also in Germany when the wall fell. Was pretty cool!

Probably the most unique experience was stepping on the equator line in Kenya. Definitely an awesome and rare experience.

Participated in Operation Deep Freeze, the resupply of National Science Foundation personnel in Antarctica, twice!14 Total take off and landings on the Ice Runway at McMurdo Sound. Thrilling experience.

I worked in the Pentagon for our 34th Army Chief of Staff.

Growing up in NY, we vacationed in DC a few times and it was always a dream of mine to work in the Pentagon...working a 4-star's personal staff was more than I could have dreamed.

I was able to travel quite a bit and being a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment work with some of the best Americans this country has produced!

I was assigned to proved communications support to the Spanish Air Force in Afghanistan to support a US medical augmentation of their Role IIe hospital. They were very insistent on maintaining command and the majority in personnel so an agreement was worked out so that they fed, supplied, housed, provided hair cuts, and laundry services. Their Ltc became our hospital commander. It was a very unique and broadening deployment. I enjoyed learning how our counterparts operated. We also worked closely with the Italian, Bulgarian, and Albanian medical contingents attached to the hospital.

While there are many great opportunities, for me I joined the USN with a GED and left the Service with my Bachelors.....it has opened many doors for me in both the Military & Civilian life. A free education for the degree is one thing, but the education you get of travelling the world is special too!

I spent four years with Naval Support Force Antarctica. I served as the Crash / Rescue Fire Chief. I was lucky enough to go to places in Antarctica that are not occupied any longer. I was a part of the team to close the Paul Siple Station. Went to South Pole Station numerous times. Traveled to every US facility on the continent. Spent time in Christchurch, New Zealand. Visited the New Zealand Air Force Army to recruit for duty in Antarctica working in the Fire Department.

Before Antarctica I was a Westpac Sailor on board America's Flagship; USS Constellation. Port of Call's in Mombasa, Kenya - Perth, Australia - Singapore - Subic Bay.
