I plan on taking 30 days of leave between here and Hood. Do you think it is best to report early while still on leave, the following Monday (12 Feb), or the 10th?What is the best day of the week to report to a new unit?2017-08-16T09:18:28-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member2837396<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My report date to Fort Hood is 10 Feb, which is a Saturday. You can report in on the 10th, or earlier if you are authorized. However, you will report in to the main in processing center, sign in, get some basic paperwork processed, they'll get you a barracks room unless you're authorized tdy housing, and then be told where to be and when to be there, which will usually be 0630 Monday morning for PT formation. After that, you begin the wonderful journey that is the several days of in processing. Later that week, there will be a gathering of all the new soldiers where someone high up will chat with you, and then your unit picks you up, and then you continue in processing at your unit. You'll usually get your next location a few days after you sign in. You can call the in processing folks who are always there 24/7 if you want to report any other time but you can easily report in at Hood on a weekend.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 16 at 2017 7:10 PM2017-08-16T19:10:23-04:002017-08-16T19:10:23-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member2840751<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Talk with your sponsor first. Very dependent upon where you're going. Since you're reporting in February, not everyone will be going to the field because of the weather. Talk to branch and ask them where exactly you're going.
