For those times where things are austere, your choices can be limited. NO coffee is not an option. I think DFAC coffee is better - the shoppette coffee never has any good coffee condiments. The "liquid sugar" or the "half and half" just don't taste right. What I found was at the DFAC, they would have these stir in powder mixes, like french vanilla and hazelnut that would really spice things up. What do you think?

I live close to Wright Patterson AFB, and they have a Starbucks right next door to the Shoppette. Needless to say, the shoppette doesn't sell nearly as much coffee now! LOL!

I'm assuming you mean the Kittyhawk side. My wife worked at that Shopette when it first opened in 05. The Starbucks used to be next to the library in the post office building. Haven't been back in a few years, still have a house in Huber.

MRE Coffee Sir! Most of the time I agree that DFAC is better, but I typically only use DFAC when I'm on AT, so maybe it just seems different, thus better

How could I forget? MRE Coffee. I actually think this might be the best, since it is so versatile. You can drink it cold for "iced coffee", or warm it up. Usually folgers instant coffee. Well done SSG Squires, thank you.

I am actually more of a tea drinker myself, which makes field problems, well, problematic. Good thing I tend to be in the TOC most of the time. I can't drink coffee unless it has a substantial amount of chocolate mixed in anyways.

Anyone else ever just dump the MRE coffee pack under your tongue and chase it with cold water?

I've been a regular at Green Beans when it's available on a base. Where I'm at there's a near equivalent shop called "Afghan Coffee". Oddly, I've never gone in to buy coffee there.
