It can be quite fulfilling to restore a vehicle and if you can do the work yourself you will have a relationship with that vehicle. Highly recommend it if you have the time, money and technical skills.

I don't know. But when you restore something it can bring down the value. Also if you don't use original parts.

The obvious benefit would be the emotional bond you develop with the motorcycle! If I have to explain that, you're not a biker but a motorcyclist! :)

The value is 2 fold - 1 the restoration process, if you are hands on, it is a blast; and 2 - ownership in a relic, something reflect on from "back in the day."

I don't know if I'd call pride a benefit, but that's not a bad reason at all. Downsides will be that it likely won't be more than a garage piece unless it's a model that still has a lot of support.
