PFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member4415492<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So I graduate airborne school in about a week and I'm projected to go to the 5-73rd Cav in the 3rd BCT, however I've been told that at AIC you get assigned to a unit based on the needs of the division so your brigade and unit could change, which I'd honestly be fine with because I've heard some pretty bad things about Cav units in the 82nd. But basically my question is does my projected unit mean anything or is it just kind of a placeholder, and what actually happens at AIC?What is the Airborne Integration Course (AIC)?2019-03-02T23:50:39-05:00PFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member4415492<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So I graduate airborne school in about a week and I'm projected to go to the 5-73rd Cav in the 3rd BCT, however I've been told that at AIC you get assigned to a unit based on the needs of the division so your brigade and unit could change, which I'd honestly be fine with because I've heard some pretty bad things about Cav units in the 82nd. Usually involves a PT test, some meetings, and BAR (pretty much pre-jump and rigging a ruck). They shortened it, so I believe new people go to their units first and then do AIC. I had a week of AIC and then got sent to my unit.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 2 at 2019 11:54 PM2019-03-02T23:54:43-05:002019-03-02T23:54:43-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4415505<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m surprised you got pinpoint orders. Typically you’ll only know what BDE you’re going to. And from there they’ll assign you to a battalion. <br /><br />When I left Division in 2018 new soldiers would do AIC once they got to Division (which is the week following the completion of in processing at Ft Bragg Replacement). AIC is pretty much PT, RIGEX ( Rigging your ruck), and BAR ( Basic Airborne Refresher)Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 3 at 2019 12:08 AM2019-03-03T00:08:10-05:002019-03-03T00:08:10-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4415862<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It's an ever-changing, entirely unnecessary stop between Ft Bragg's Reception Company and one's unit. You can speed a lot of time in the field and it can suck. But then you can be with some great people. Air Cav can be the same. Just depends on the unit and The Squadron Commander. 4/7 CAV in Korea ours was a DICK. Just to be one our CSM was a good guy with his hands tied. Ether way do not let your first unit make up your mind on the ARMY. Over all the ARMY is good for most but not for all. It sounds like you will ether be will commo or staff ether way you will be better of. The best thing about being Cav is you can get your SPURES and your Stetson. These are much wanted. But not many can EARN THEM.Response by SGT Charles Bartell made Mar 3 at 2019 3:48 PM2019-03-03T15:48:06-05:002019-03-03T15:48:06-05:001LT Private RallyPoint Member4420134<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Went through AIC about three months back. But AIC is where you learn a little bit about the DIV's history and how the DIV operates. You probably won't be taking an APFT but like other's have mentioned you'll attend BAR again. Since you're commo, you'll be assigned by the G6 SGM, again up to the needs of the DIV though.Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 4 at 2019 4:33 PM2019-03-04T16:33:55-05:002019-03-04T16:33:55-05:002019-03-02T23:50:39-05:00
