What is SF like and How do I Join?

I’m looking to join SF because it’s been my dream since I was a kid. But I’m scared to leave home forever and never live a normal lifestyle and not have the family I want. Clearly I don’t know how it works and I’m asking for a helping hand on how people’s lives have turned out after sf and also some tips and tricks on being in SF. I’m an 18 y/o fresh out of 68w ait. It's you're dream to join and you don't know anything about it? Is that why you also tagged 75th in this? These two organizations couldn't be more different.
My suggestion is that you get some time and maturity under your belt and you'll be more ready to join. 75th is a great organization for initial term soldiers to start out in and you should apply to them.

Dreams are good, but if you are looking for "normal" then neither the Rangers or SF are for you. They are anything but normal. You need to get your feet under you and gain some depth. Do some research and decide what you really want. I mean REALLY want and not just glorify after watching Green Berets, Black Hawk down and other SPECOPS based movies.

Get your mind right. While you are doing that, get your body right and that is going to be an intense ride just to make it to selection. I wish you luck.

You want to join SF but you “don’t know how it works”? People in SF or 75th are go getters. They don’t need to go online to ask twice about it. If you’re “scared” to be away from home, this career path is absolutely not for you.

As a former SF soldier, my advice would be to join the 75th Ranger Regiment, learn first and foremost how to soldier, gain son maturity then attempt SFAS. My other piece of advice would be to gain as much medical knowledge as possible. Watch what the best medics are, pick their brains along with any PAs you happen to come in contact with. I’m currently a soldier in the process to try out for SF I have been in for about 6 years now. If going active duty or you are on active duty. Just like everyone else on this threat take some time to mature first into the army and also go 75th prior to trying out for SF. Not only will ultimately prepare you for SF selection and a course, it will also increase you knowledge and skills with in the military to make you that much more effective. Good luck and be safe train hard and prepare your self.
