What is my "wartime vet" status?

I served from 95-98, and received the NDM. I never deployed overseas. I am wondering if this timeframe makes me a Gulf War veteran?

No you are not a Gulf War Vet unless you served in that area, and have Southwest Asia Medal. The NDSM only means you served during a time authorized in support of war time efforts. Time for South West Asia ended November 30, 1995.

To be clear, I am not asking this question for either VA purposes, or bragging rights. I am simply asking for my own curiosity, and so, if anyone asks ME, I can reoly properly. I thank you all for your answers, and now I know that I am considered to be a Gulf War ERA vet. Thank you!

a very good friend of mine served during vietnam but spent all his time in the States or Germany. Same thing with him, you’re a veteran of the era, if not the actual war

Not meaning anything negative, but I am pretty sure you had to actually go to the Mid. East during the war to be a Gulf War Vet.
