I’m new too and have a wife and 4 month old. Different base but the process wasn’t complicated. Maybe it’s because I got to my unit just in time for block leave but I only had about a week to get everything I needed to get TDY and to be ready to deploy for when I get back.Response by CPL Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 26 at 2018 4:08 PM2018-12-26T16:08:48-05:002018-12-26T16:08:48-05:00CSM Darieus ZaGara4237090<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Fort Stewart has New and renovated quarters on Base. There isn’t always enough for everyone. Off base has good and bad quarters. If you have orders you should be able to contact base housing to get a better idea of what type quarters you will recieve, on or off base as well. The army has done a lot of updating, but the best always goes to the top. I was blessed to be off post everywhere I went in the military. There's a lot less drama that way, so if you can get it, take the off post housing.Response by SGT Russell Wickham made Dec 26 at 2018 6:51 PM2018-12-26T18:51:41-05:002018-12-26T18:51:41-05:00SGT Ej P.4238992<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As far as housing, whatever is available at the time you inprocess and whichever YOU choose will be your quarters, if there's a house then pick the house, if there's only an apartment unit and you don't want it then you can wait but then now question is where you'll be staying while you're waiting - how long will you have to wait or willing to wait - it would be better if you guys start off living on post vs off post because of the summers and winters (don't have to pay for utilities unless you over use which would be extreme). Anywhere on post is still better due to the gate traffic you have to go through in the morning or anytime you need to go on post plus if you need to go home it's there.Response by SGT Ej P. made Dec 27 at 2018 1:49 PM2018-12-27T13:49:31-05:002018-12-27T13:49:31-05:00SGT Audie Blackwell4239679<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When I was there in the early 1990's we lived off post. There is stand alone homes which mostly go to people with alot of kids, higher rank, etc.. alot of homes on Stewart are duplexes which is what I lived in. Some of the houses are super shitty not gonna lie. Take your time and pick something you like, you get 10 days to do it.Response by SSG Kasius McCall made Jan 1 at 2019 12:53 AM2019-01-01T00:53:50-05:002019-01-01T00:53:50-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4257465<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was t,here during the stone age ('89 - '90) and there was nothing there except the main px (which has been replaced with a much better version) and a few shoppettes. But I still loved my time there. Hinesville hasn't changed much I've heard. <br /><br />The best advice I have is; don't stay on post (not referring to housing), get out and see the area. Savannah (well parts of it) is still nice to visit).Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 3 at 2019 8:19 PM2019-01-03T20:19:53-05:002019-01-03T20:19:53-05:002018-12-26T14:08:09-05:00
