Can anyone tell me what it's like to live on base as a new boot? I've heard you get a single home and I've also heard you get into a apartment complex. Any help is appreciated. What is it like to live on base at Fort Stewart as a new married soldier? 2018-12-26T14:08:09-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4236757

So I'm about to graduate on the 25th of January from ft.benning. we are supposed to be pcsing to ft.stewart. my wife is just about to give birth on the 21st pf January and we have another son as well. I’m new too and have a wife and 4 month old. Different base but the process wasn’t complicated. Maybe it’s because I got to my unit just in time for block leave but I only had about a week to get everything I needed to get TDY and to be ready to deploy for when I get back. There isn’t always enough for everyone. Off base has good and bad quarters. If you have orders you should be able to contact base housing to get a better idea of what type quarters you will recieve, on or off base as well. Thank you for your service. The army has done a lot of updating, but the best always goes to the top. I was blessed to be off post everywhere I went in the military. There's a lot less drama that way, so if you can get it, take the off post housing. Anywhere on post is still better due to the gate traffic you have to go through in the morning or anytime you need to go on post plus if you need to go home it's there. There is stand alone homes which mostly go to people with alot of kids, higher rank, etc.. alot of homes on Stewart are duplexes which is what I lived in. Some of the houses are super shitty not gonna lie. Take your time and pick something you like, you get 10 days to do it. But I still loved my time there. Hinesville hasn't changed much I've heard.

The best advice I have is; don't stay on post (not referring to housing), get out and see the area. Savannah (well parts of it) is still nice to visit). Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 3 at 2019 8:19 PM 2019-01-03T20:19:53-05:00 2019-01-03T20:19:53-05:00 2018-12-26T14:08:09-05:00
