What is it like to be a veterinary tech in the army?

Been a long time, but I was the Troop Commander for the 106th Vet Det in Korea.

Our Vet Techs are a key in assisting our Veterinarians.

I believe you can either specialize in animals or food inspection.

No first hand experience as a vet tech. But I take my dog to the base vet (Navy base, but Army vet clinic), and have always been really impressed with them.

It’s a great job; I've been an Animal Care NCO for 15 years now. There is a wide range of duty positions that you can work at. I’ve been in clinics, field units, lab animal research, and even deployed with a civil affairs unit doing humanitarian aid work.

The only thing I know about Army Veterinarian techs is they are the ones that inspect our packaged operational rations...
