SSG Greg Smith 5271843

First time posting, would like to say thanks in advance for any answers. I’m looking to enlist as a 35L special agent. I’m a prior service marine with a BA in Criminal Justice. So I have a few questions. What is day to day life like in a SOF unit for a 35L? Already have airborne from my time in the corps so I’m hoping to go to an SOF unit after AIT. And last what is the Great Skills Program? Admittedly I do want to do cool guy stuff. I get that may not be the reality of 35L so If I’m looking at the wrong MOS for that kind of action, then please let me know. Thanks again. What is day to day life like in a SOF unit for a 35L? Also, what is the Great Skills Program? 2019-11-24T19:19:41-05:00 SSG Greg Smith 5271843

First time posting, would like to say thanks in advance for any answers. A few years ago USASFC removed all their 35L spots, so you won't find a USASOC spot unless they have one in 160th or Ranger Regiment. As for GSP, you'll have to attend the briefing, but that is still years down the road for you. You will need some experience under your belt till you are eligible to apply.
Also, if your airborne was through the Navy school, the Army does not recognize it Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 24 at 2019 9:35 PM 2019-11-24T21:35:09-05:00 2019-11-24T21:35:09-05:00 MAJ Javier Rivera 5272340

I’ll add a few things to SFC Private RallyPoint Member statement.

1. Be prepared for worldwide assignments. Perhaps not much in the beginning but as you become proficient on your job the opportunities will come up.

2. If your don’t have it, learn a second language from one of the priority languages; the ones Big Army likes. This may have changed, but I would look into that because I know individuals have to submit a packet to be a 35L Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 25 at 2019 9:05 PM 2019-11-25T21:05:59-05:00 2019-11-25T21:05:59-05:00 CPT Aaron Kletzing 5275969

Greg best wishes to you!
