What is Camp Arifjan like compared to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar?

I have been “deployed” to Al Udeid Air base in Qatar with the Army and am curious to know how the two compare.

Hot, Humid, basically a base. 2 PX's, 3 gyms, Chili's, Starbucks, green beans, Charlie's etc.

I’ve never been to Qatar, but I was able to use my year at Kuwait to get in shape physically and work on some college.

Depends if you’re talking about Zone 1 or 2 on Arifjan or Zone 6. I PCS’ed to Arifjan and stayed in hard stand barracks...single room. Zone 6 used to be tents and open bays back in 2011. Went TDY to both Arifjan and Al Udeid a few times. They’re both hot and sandy. Either one will suck equally in the summer.

A big more to do on AUAB, between the BRA, better gyms, and restaurants. You can go to Kuwait City just like you can go to Doha. A bit hotter and more humid in AUAB than AJ. All in all, not toooo much of a difference. Both are cushy places to go.
