I currently live in Japan and not knowing Japanese makes traveling and meeting new people hard. If I knew how to speak Japanese I feel like a whole new experience would be available to me. I know the basics and some advanced stuff but cars are just so complex. I think it'd be nice to know every facet of how your vehicle runs and operates. Would also make it easier to know if someone is trying to rip you off. I can and have wired a house, I have helped build one and remodeled and repaired many. I can pour concrete, lay block, I can do basic auto repairs, have swapped engines and transmissions, and replaced many clutches. I can solder, both copper tube and electrical, and do basic troubleshooting of electric circuits, though I can't troubleshoot circuit boards. I can weld with wire, stick or torch, and I braze as good as anyone I've ever seen. I've built and repaired snowplow undercarriages, welded up exhaust and done redneck body repairs...

I took the trappers education course through the DNR, and while it covered the basics of trapping, I don't know how to do it, and don't have the time to commit to it, but I would like to learn how. Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to do blacksmithing. I got yelled at by my mom when I was a kid for heating steel up in a fire in the back yard and hitting it with a hammer. I was fascinated by the fact that I could change it's shape. I also would like to learn robotics and circuit boards, but doubt I ever will. Along with that, I've thought about trying to teach myself computer programming. I've started twice, but gotten bored with it each time.

My favorite skill I've learned however, is being a combat engineer! Essayons! I am always impressed by others who have the ability to speak/read languages other than their own native language. I have worked with people who knew eight dialects of SE Asian languages and learned English well enough to work in LE. I trained a USAF recruit last year who mastered English in four years, completed High School, and enlisted. I just don't seem to have that ability. Been a fan of the sport when it wasn't popular and am still a fan. So it would be going into automotive industry to get there as my first choice. My second was crushed the minute the recession hit and that was to open a car and bike customization shop. I had my location picked, talked to others in the field, and felt it was the right thing to do. Once there recession hit, those dreams were dashed being many of the very shops I had talked to are no longer around or combined to survive barely. My third would be distance shooting. I know I can hit 300m. I want to try the USMC way and hit 500 with iron sights with a M4. After that, use my M1A to reach out to 800-1000 meters. I think distance shooting is so disciplined and rewarding when you hit the target, it'd be something I wouldn't get tired of.
