Any insight on how things are run there? Or what there is to do? I’ve already put in an application for housing on post, so what is the housing like? We will be staying in the Wilmore at McClellan Place is what I’m told. What insight do you have on the 1SNC 541st CSSB in Fort Riley, like how things are run there, what there is to do, and housing?2019-09-25T22:21:01-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5060595

I will be PCS’ing there in August from Fort Bliss. It just depends on your rank as to where they put you. They have some nice housing but then again they have some older brick not so good housing that they kept saying they were going to replace. As far as things to do there is Milford Lake near by. Manhattan Kansas is just off post. It's a college town. Just outside the main gate is Junction City if you like the small town feel.
As far as the 1SNC 541st CSSB I have no clue. I was up on the hill at 1ID DHHB HHC. It's not a bad duty station but it gets cold in the winter and make sure you know how to drive in the snow. Because Fort Riley Gets it's fair share of snow in the winter time. Kansas is mostly flat there is not much to stop the wind. Hope that helps you out some.Response by SGT Warren Crutcher made Sep 26 at 2019 3:53 AM2019-09-26T03:53:14-04:002019-09-26T03:53:14-04:00PFC Private RallyPoint Member5061764

Be prepared for tornado season and winter snow season. Grew up in the Midwest and Fort Riley was my choice for duty stations since it was close to my family too. I was there from 91-94. I lived off post but housing there was being newly built back when I was there.

My old unit there no longer exists and the old barracks where I lived is being torn down. We ran the Ammo Supply Point until civilians took over.

If you like doing outdoors stuff plenty of things to do. If you like sports, Manhattan Kansas in about 30-45 minutes offpost. Kansas State Wildcats.....

Enjoy the Midwest plus Worlds of Fun isn’t too far away either, Kansas City could be a weekend trip. Football and Baseball, as well as hockey I believe.

Junction City is a nice little town but the one between Manhattan and Ft Riley is even smaller.Response by PFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 26 at 2019 9:26 AM2019-09-26T09:26:24-04:002019-09-26T09:26:24-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5068335

Fort Riley wow I was station there in Jan2017-Nov2018 18 months or so and 10 of those months were in the field or on a Europe rotation. It would have been longer if I didn't go to Drill Sergeant school or ALC. Housing on base in not bad and would definitely recommend staying on base. Junction City is priced too high for rent. If I had a choice to go back to Fort Riley or 2 CR I would pick 2 CR all the way.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 28 at 2019 3:18 AM2019-09-28T03:18:26-04:002019-09-28T03:18:26-04:00SGT Jay Ehrenfeld5101123

political i wad assign w 24th transportation unit within 542st and lot of back stabbing in the BNResponse by SGT Jay Ehrenfeld made Oct 7 at 2019 5:47 PM2019-10-07T17:47:03-04:002019-10-07T17:47:03-04:00SGT Jay Ehrenfeld5101126

i mean 541stResponse by SGT Jay Ehrenfeld made Oct 7 at 2019 5:47 PM2019-10-07T17:47:36-04:002019-10-07T17:47:36-04:002019-09-25T22:21:01-04:00
