I haven't gotten to spend too much time there, but the little time I did was great. The business side of me always gets me thinking what this part would be worth if it was sold? It seems virtually priceless. We could hop a late afternoon train, enjoy dinner and a show, and be back the next morning ready to go (having slept on the train home). A friend took his girlfriend there one evening, and proposed to her on a handsome cab ride around the park before hopping the train home. NYC is great just so long as you don't have to live there. Of course, Baltimore is no great place to live either these days... Yes, there are vagrants (over 55k in NYC's homeless services) and yes, i wouldnt venture around at night... unarmed at least! But its TONS better than it was back in the day, you just have to have basic awareness. Nighttime is the most you'd have to worry, and it becomes a police state at night with floodlights and foot/vehicle patrols. Remember, you're in a city with 8.4 million people, 55k cops and are traversing a park 2.5 Sq miles from 59th to 110th streets.... cops cant be everywhere - keep your head on a swivel!
