I would contact my recruiter, it probably means another trip to MEPS for a medical evaluation. Once your are medically cleared (keep both your Commander and Recruiter appraises if your situation) you will have another reservation made and you will Be required to go to AIT in original or renegotiated MOS as ‘you’ failed to complete original MOS training. I would recommend you advise the unit Commander and the USAREC Station Commander/Recruiter of your current status as you can still attend trading assemblies with your Guard/Reserve unit as you are in Pay Status... That should have been your first course of action.
They can move your AIT date, but when someone from your unit reads this and the Commander still doesn't know, that's gonna be bad news. I know this is a real pain, but do everything you can to make this happen. If you have a local hospital unit or active Army MTF (other services don't really handle our paperwork well) that would be my first bet. Alternatively, call to the state surgeon's office (assuming such an office exists) for guidance in that matter.

I've seen this before on the USAR side and it never worked out well. Recruiters are worried about the next contract, not the one who already signed; your unit, while motivated, is incapable of changing your school seat.

Work both with your command (make sure everyone to at least company level is aware and updated on the situation) and your recruiter. If your recruiter does not make an effort to change your school date, have your commander call his commander.

If you do not complete training, you may be discharged. I'm not 100% familiar with NG contracts, but section III of the NGB 21 seems to indicate as much. Not reporting for scheduled training is a very bad idea.

If the school is not rescheduled and you are physically able to travel (clear with your physician), show up to training with your valid profile. USAREC might be able to ignore you until then, but if you report with proper documentation they will have no choice but to deal with it. They might still separate you at that point, but it will put you in a better position to enlist at a later date once you have fully recovered. SFC Stephen P.
