Makes me wonder what Mr. Davis was thinking. How do you secede from the union and avoid an armed conflict? Obviously the answer was that you cannot. Regardless of how you feel about the Civil War, you have to admire a person who was willing to step up to the plate and take the reigns as a political leader. Thanks for sharing. One would think a university in the Deep South would have the honors, but Rice it is! I have a close friend whose son did exactly that!<br />I was born in Alabama, and have been to and through Montgomery many times. There are many nice places there, of course, but overall, Montgomery is not very appealing to me.
