Where is the honor? Where is the professionalism of personal responsibility?
Both of these SM in the same unit.. Makes you wonder if this is how they commonly handle or deal with mistakes (run, cover up) ... or is this an isolated incident, where just one member of the command has failed himself and his fellow soldiers.

Let's hope this is an isolated incident and that Jacobs is just a piece of shit who should have washed out during basic.

I'm also wondering if alcohol was a factor.

Hard to say about this being isolated. The story also says they knew each other...lot of different dots that can be connected or speculated there. Unfortunately, I think the personal responsibility was never instilled in this young man.

It's a tragic event. All I can say is the culture in our society changes so much every few years and it reflects into our military life as well.

apparently, they didn't read the Soldiers creed about never leaving a fallen comrade.. I personally hope they throw the book at him and make an example out of him..
