What effect has a cell phone made on your daily life? Do you ever feel like how did I ever live without one?

No, I try not to use my phone much, the one exception is watching Netflix at night.

SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter - I grew up in the time before computers or cell phones. Back then, we didn't miss what we didn't know. I'll have to admit, having a cell phone has come in very handy with my chosen profession. Being able to contact medical control without giving personal details over an open radio is a HUGE asset.

It made it easier to contact the kids.
I can live without one, turn it off after work, tell everyone to just call my wife's phone.
And maybe because I'm old school, I still can drink out of the garden hose when outside.
Oh, in the early 60's, we had no running water just drank rain water, used outhouse too.
And, that's why 11B was so easy for me.

I didn't use a cell phone until after I was in the Army and stationed in Germany, where it was cheaper to have a cell phone than a landline (or use a payphone). What always impressed me was the ability to contact Soldiers scattered all over post every time there was a change in a timeline or plans. I have no idea how I would have pulled that off on a daily basis without one.

I could live without it, although many folks can not, since it seems to be something that they are constantly staring at. Life was also better before emails.

They sure make life “easier”.

When I first got one and took it on deployment (early 90’s) every one of my soldiers seemed to need to call “momma” for some reason. Yeah, only if it was an emergency.

Not much really, aside from the convenience. I basically just use mine for texting, or in case of emergencies when driving and an occasional email. I very rarely use it for calls. The only messaging app i use is Viber for when my wife is in the PI.

SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter Believe it or not my husband and I don't have a daily cell phone. We have a cell phone in our vehicle for when we travel but we have to put minutes on it to use it. We make our phone calls before we leave the house. If people want to contact us, they come by the house!!!

It's made life easier, don't have to use a landline at work, and I'm not like some people that have them out every 5 minutes to see if they have a message.

I've never regretted my conscious decision to avoid getting a smart phone. As much as I take heat from my co-workers, I am convinced it was a good idea to avoid wasting the limited time I have on this Earth.
