I was pondering whether this was a victory for states rights, religious expression, or was teeing up the issue for SCOTUS review and potential action. [My response was merged from a similar discussion]
I think this will tee up the issue for SCOTUS to review. Personally I hope this action will draw away all of the attention from Kim Davis.

This is a lesson on a person that used religion for their own selfish purpose, hopefully she has learned Jesus message of "Give onto Caesar what is Caesar's and give onto God what is God's."

Personally, I think this jailing was just to demonstrate that people in her office would issue the licenses and that she was actively interfering. Now the judge can say "Sure, you don't agree. Sit down, shut up and let someone else do it or go back to jail."

Kim Davis was taught the Lessons of "Give onto Caesar what is Caesar's and Give Onto God what is God's." So if she did not learn then Caesar will lock her up again.

This is very simple.....I can wholeheartedly support her in her beliefs.......however she is failing to do her job, so she needs to be fired or quit. Again I'm not saying she should have to issue the certificate if it's against her beliefs....I'm saying if her beliefs get in the way of her doing her job she needs to find a new job......it's that simple.

I tried to reply to your latest post . I've been reading about this lesbian judge who would not Mary strait couples till they had marriage equality. I say that's a bunch of crap. And that was in 2010 or 011. I know she did not have a contempt charge. But she took an oath. Just like Kim did. The least she should have been taken off the bench and forced to resign

Ultimately, I feel she should never have been jailed in the first place, but should have been asked to resign from her position, or being removed from position is enough.

As a left-leaning Christian, I know I am going to catch flack with what I am about to post; however, I feel compelled to speak out in this forum:This is NOT about religious persecution, but an elected official who swore an Oath TO GOD that they would abide by the Constitution and be just to those who come to her office for services and assistance, yet invoked her PERSONAL BELIEFS against those who love differently than you or I. This is about a person who REFUSE to maintain the separation of the church and state; which by the way, is the PRIMARY TENANT of the Constitution!!!

When I took Oath of Enlistment, I swore, TO GOD, that I would support and uphold the Constitution; I did not get the choice to pick and choose what Amendments or laws I would protect. I swore to PROTECT ALL, and I DEFENDED ALL; otherwise, the Oath I took would have been a lie, and should have never been taken. The SAME line of logic applies to Kim Davis. REMEMBER: She ran for public office; no one held a gun to her head. If she felt like she could not perform the duties of the office she ran for, then she should resign IMMEDIATELY.
