Right now I am a 12b with about 12 years in. I was assigned to 10th Mountain (Light) - that has ZERO tanks! I was not a happy camper...but turned-out to be one of the best assignments of my 21 year career. AOB (BOLC) - was at Fort Knox at the time...now at Fort Benning. TCGST forced a lot of LTs to take a re-do on that test...study those hard. Everything else was pretty easy. Don't be dumb and go downtown and drink and get a DUI...we had a few of those.
As far as duty stations - anywhere there is a BCT...you can go (Drum, Hood, Stewart, Carson, Irwin, Bliss, JBLM, Alaska, HI, Germany, Italy, Korea).

While I wanted to be on tanks (since that is what I went to AOB for) - I enjoyed my time as a Scout Platoon Leader and HHC XO at Fort Drum.

Career wise - PL, XO, Asst S-3, CO, S-3/XO...same box checks as any other Combat Arms MOS. If you go "light" - recommend the CAV Leaders Course and/or Ranger school. LTC Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 05 Jan 2019 02:07:09 -0500 2019-01-05T02:07:09-05:00 2018-12-31T21:44:56-05:00
