What do you think the punishment should be for Bowe Bergdahl?

As posted earlier, SGT Bergdahl is going to plead guilty to Misbehavior before the Enemy, and Desertion. What do you think his punishment should be and why? We already know he will more than likely be reduced to E-1, forfeit all pay and allowances, and receive a dishonorable discharge.

Dishonorable discharge, loss of all rank and pay, loss of US citizenship, deportation.
Incurs ZERO financial liability to US after convection and deportation ... and we never have to see him again....unless he desires to work with the insurgency in which case we will see him in the Targeting process....which works as well.

There is a big gap between life and probation and I think it should be somewhere in that area.

No dog in the fight here, just an observation... I think on several fronts, Bergdahl has had more done to him than anything the military system can ever do to him being in captivity. Personally, a reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay and a dishonorable discharge should suffice, because he has to pay back everything before he is even eligible to apply for any VA benefits after he applies to be reinstated for a less than honorable status with them.
He shouldn’t be held accountable for the move the former POTUS did with trading individuals of terror, or the loss of troops sent to get him because of actionable decisions made by others. Yes, he went AWOL, and yes, he will get his due. But let me remind you, do a google research on how many folks are still AWOL from Vietnam. There were a multitude of issues that have surrounded his so-called disappearance/going AWOL. Let the military court handle his case, let’s not be the media we all despise so much and crucify the very system for which we hold so valuable as military personnel. We have seen good people fall, we have seen bad people get away, let the system work.
Before anyone states anything, I am just offering a neutral opinion on the matter. He’s not my soldier, I never worked with him, I didn’t lose anyone nor did I send anyone. Simply a believer in my UCMJ System - it’s not perfect, but it has worked far better than our civilian counterpart for quite some time...

I think the whole case is weird if you ask my opinion. I'm still trying to understand until this day, how could he just walk away without anyone seeing him or trying to stop him? I'm lost on that. I'm pretty sure during that time, they just didn't have just afghans pulling security at their COP gates due to insider attacks........ I'm pretty sure you had other Soldiers around when the incident happened.

I think the media blew some of the story up, and I'm sure a lot of people believe that there were missions to go rescue SGT Bergdahl. I don't know what story to believe, but I do know he at least came back to meet his punishment. Dishonorable discord, forfeit of all pay and reduced to E-1 will be sufficient. What does killing this man actually accomplish, or a life sentence? If a Soldier(s) died looking for him, assuming that was their sole mission, does he/she come back to life? Do you think the family of those Soldiers have so much hate for this man they would throw the first stone?
