They tried and failed numerous times in my observations. Maybe a question or 2 from study guides during guard mount along with reference? One can only lead horse to a water, that's it my friend Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 20 at 2014 10:58 PM 2014-06-20T22:58:58-04:00 2014-06-20T22:58:58-04:00 PO1 Private RallyPoint Member 159846

We had a similar situation while I was assigned to Misawa AB Japan. I don't recall all the details, since I was TAD so often, but I know they assigned a series of question/answer sessions as part of the mandatory training periods (remember the old GMT). Apparently they planned it out almost 5 months in advance of the test.

Training was specific to the rating and ranking (i.e. High Frequency Direction Finding - 2nd Class). It was a time slotted each week for 1 hour and they would have facilitated discussions with everyone in every rate and job leading and talking about their jobs, and Naval Operations and History. Most used Power Point to guide it but the attempt was to prevent Death by Power Point.
