Wow. Uhm... Alright, one of my employees has a kid on the way that she is gonna need serious support for because she's single. Let's throw her out.

Also, this will solve some form of discrimination by simply throwing out single mothers? What about single fathers? What about someone who has simply taken guardianship over a child by themselves?

Not only is this, as you put it Sir, disgusting, it seems counter productive and stupid. In the end, I can't help but simply think, what the hell?

A piece of me wants to believe that employers wouldn't use the bill with this apparent loophole because that's lower than low, but then the rest of me says "of course they would." When it "benefits" a company to rid itself of someone who would possibly require paid maternity leave, or at least time off for appointments and after delivery, why wouldn't they? (Not saying I agree with it, but from the standpoint of a business who sees $$$$.) Absolutely repulsive.

SSgt Kenneth Langwell, I'm far from liberal. My comment is based on the premise of the article, which specifically mentions firing pregnant single women for the sole fact that they are SINGLE and PREGNANT at the same time. My response to this particular article focused only on the article in question, not on an entire collection of experiences of pregnant women in corporate America and their employers.

Your mention of women who come and go as they please is not an issue of pregnancy while single. It is an issue of work ethic, and that is entirely separate. Men who have achieved tenure at their respective place of employment often behave the same way. Again, nowhere in my response did I comment on behavior that is contrary to a productive workforce.

Please do not assume anything about my stances on lazy individuals who game the system. That is for another thread and another article.

SSgt Kenneth Langwell, the premise of THIS article is about that, and you can tell by the title of it, which happens to be "New Bill Could Allow Employers To Fire Single Mothers." That is the actual title. I kid you not. That may be a radical interpretation, but that was the radical interpretation of THIS author. And again, I am commenting and the thoughts and ideas that went into THIS article. Why? Because it's 00:19 right now where I am, and I am taking things at face value. That is my opinion on THIS article. Does it mean that it's the truth? No. But I promise you I'm not making any life changing decisions based on this article. Rather, I'm offering my opinion on RP about this particular interpretation, which I stated, I would hope that someone wouldn't use this particular "loophole." Loophole implies that I have recognized that isn't the actual intent of the bill.

Also, I notice you chose to comment specifically on my response, rather than respond to the actual question, although you address that "everyone" is going all liberal? Is this because I'm the singular female that commented on this thread? Are you assuming that I stand by the notion of equality for women and the "we can do whatever we want" mentality simply because I have two X chromosomes? If so, I invite you to connect with me, send me a message, and find out a lot more about me. The first thing I'll tell you is that I'm a registered Republican, so whatever liberal ideals you think I hold, you may be pleasantly surprised that you are, indeed, incorrect. I invite you not to judge members on RP based on a singular response they post in a forum that isn't nearly as serious as you're making it out to be.

SSgt Kenneth Langwell, I'll stand down on the gender saber-rattling, and my apologies for my assumptions. We can agree to disagree, although I'm not even sure that we do entirely disagree. Enjoy the rest of your night!

What do you think of this new bill in the House and Senate that would permit employers to fire pregnant single women?

It may pass the house and senate but it will be vetoed by the president.
