Are all those emotional responses necessary? It could be that I don't use FB enough to feel they are. Sometimes I want to do more than just like something. Say a person posts bad news ... I don't want to like it, but I want to "sympathize" it. The crying icon might be good for that. I think for folks who like to respond to posts, it gives a bit more in the way of nuancing that response. Example: Someone announces the death of a family member. I always fell weird hitting the "like" button to those kinds of posts. Even if the comment was a trite "so sorry" it was communication and interaction.
