I am beyond lost on this? National Guard deploy all the time. Heck, I am with NC National Guard's 30th ABCT and I am deployed. This is my second deployment with the National Guard. I don't get what is there to question.

Do you think the Nation Guard is not supposed to deploy? Did you know the National Guard deploys? Half of the Combat Arms in the are in the National Guard. I can't recall a single time when my state didn't have a unit deployed. With the Army down sizing they are going to use the Guard for more missions. Still, what is the threat information you are talking about?

It sounds like more information that perhaps shouldn't be leaked/released without real details. It makes me wonder if 'the bad guys' read the news & track every unit that deploys - because deploying is kinda what we do

Non issue. Sounds like yr 5 in Deployment cycle for them. Yes the Guard still tries to play the 5 yr ready to go cycle. This yr is our yr 5. Next yr is the "reset" yr.

There's nothing particularly surprising about this. We (the 39th IBCT) just completed Platoon Year of the ARFORGEN cycle. We would have Company year complete before this deployment, placing us in "available" status. As s member of 2nd Battalion the big question is if we'll go somewhere as well.

there are more units going next year too but they have been on the list for some time. Since I haven't seen the press release I won't mention them. Actually I might have just missed the announcement

I just left there and transferred to TX. I hope friends that go take care and do there job! good luck guys. We just returned from Afghan in Nov.
