Could be a good thing if it is. Cost saving on parts. Instead of having 3-4 different chassis in a unit you have 1 semi standardized one. The only thing that sounds decent about it is simplifying the logistics chain by using a BFV chassis and the ability to fire 120mm mortars out the back - though I'll believe the latter when I see it. The rest of the stuff in this article makes me nervous that we're about to me sold a used car for the price of new one: WIN-T capability exists on pretty much anything, DUKE v3s can be mounted in a motorcycle sidecar, the ambulance version carries just as many patients as the current M113 and the crap about being fast enough to reduce ATGM targeting is pure BS. Throw reactive armor on it (which will be required if you're about to get in a non-NTC fight) and it'll go 25mph.

Seriously, I'd like to hear thoughts from anyone who has worked on this. I'm skeptical on first read of this article, but that might be more on the part of the author rather than the program manager.

http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/coming-soon-the-us-armys-new-armored-weapon-designed-take-18681

Coming Soon: The U.S. Army's New Armored Weapon (Designed to Take on Russia or China)

The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle will bring new armored technology to major combat operations.

Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 9 at 2016 5:33 PM 2016-12-09T17:33:35-05:00 2016-12-09T17:33:35-05:00 SFC Michael Smith 2146357

spent majority of my career in 113's; A2's in DS and A3's in OIF1.
