What do you think of Starbucks Holiday cups this year?

I think Starbucks should keep their traditional holiday cups and offer these new plain cups... Why can't they offer both?
PC is taking over everything....and I for one am sick and tired of it.

This year's holiday season red cups at Starbucks have stirred up critics who accuse the company of waging a war on Christmas.

Doesn't bother me a bit. I buy the cheapest ground coffee for my percolator (about $7.99). Lasts me about six weeks. Tastes way better than Starbucks. But if one finds offense in the absence of a holiday message on their coffee cups they can either 1.) join me in a cup of real coffee, or 2.) write their own message on their cup. If you feel really compelled, tell the clerk you name is "Merry Christmas" when placing your order --that way they'll have to write "Merry Christmas" on you cup.

Sgt Kelli Mays I personally don't drink more than 3 or 4 cups of coffee a year, so Starbucks can kiss my red and white fanny anyway. But, I have to agree with you about the PC police. It has become a long-running, and tiring, joke that the smallest group gripes, and the rest of the world is expected to change for them.

I don't drink coffee but I thought that Starbucks had lots of Christmas merchandise for sale? Even the plain cups look like they fit the season.

I guess it depends on how we view it...
Whatever the reason, to change it back because of everyone griping and complaining would be wrong, as the change itself would only be forced because someone got butt hurt (the true basis of the start of PC)... It's their product, and their right to distribute it however they please, and with or without snowflakes on the cup, the coffee will still taste the same...
Did I notice the change? Yes... Will I force them to change it back? No... I just want my coffee and I really don't care that it's in a cup (with or without snowflakes) that I'm gonna just throw away anyway when I'm done with it...

Don't particularly care, really. I rarely drink their coffee unless I really need a cup and there happens to be one nearby. If the color of the coffee cup you're gonna toss once you're done with it bothers you so much, I don't know what to say to you.

Shakespeare's phrase "Much ado about nothing" may be harsh but I think it fits this controversy Sgt Kelli Mays. This particular starbucks cup has the traditional red and green colors and seems to be okay to me.

Sgt Kelli Mays the simple answer to your question is money. It costs more money to have both the Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, or whatever they had written on them cups along with the plain red cups. As for boycotting starbucks, I do that anyway. Not because of politics, but because $4 is too much to pay for a shitty cup of coffee.

I care more about what's in the cup than how it's decorated. To be honest, they could decorate them in any color and with any design from cartoonish to pornographic and I still wouldn't buy it. I simply don't like coffee brewed from beans that are roasted and toasted to cover up the fact that they are inferior quality. To me, Starbucks is the living example of that childhood tale of "The Emperor's New Suit of Clothes".

Bravo Starbucks marketing team, bravo! I think this whole stupid controversy was created by some Starbucks marketing person to get their name back into the social media realm for something other than concealed carry issues. Think about it, why would this even be an issue? The whole "go into Starbucks and say your name is 'Merry Christmas' so they have to say it" that has been all over social media (let me tell you, if I have seen it then it is actually ALL over social media) is just another marketing ploy to get people taking and buying their coffee. That is my $0.02...
