SSG Paul Setterholm, I especially like the part that the trainers will have the first crack at adopting the dogs. These animals have grown up and lived by these people's sides since they were pups. It is a great move. Thanks for the post !!

Stop the presses!!! This may have been the first decision made in the White House that I've agreed with in many, many years!! A K9 team becomes family. Those working dogs are responsible for bringing many of our troops home safely; it is only right and fitting that we should also bring home the K9 warriors who have served loyally by their handlers' side. It appears that someone realized that special link and kinship developed between the handler and the working dog and made it a priority to bring them home as a team........Hopefully, most handlers will be able to adopt their battle buddies on a more permanent basis!!

Fantastic! I like the fact that handlers may be able to keep their four-legged team member upon redeployment.
