I think he'd certainly be qualified for the position of Secretary General as somebody who will be a former head of state; and he has no fear of negotiating with potential adversaries to resolve conflict, which is good for anybody seeking that position. As an American, I welcome the possibility as it would be pretty cool to see one of our own up there. Response by PO2 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 23 at 2016 2:40 PM 2016-07-23T14:40:43-04:00 2016-07-23T14:40:43-04:00 PFC Stephen Eric Serati 1745723 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think it could be possible.I also think he could get past the P5 hurdles.He is a strong leader committed to change,with the communications skills to match.His global popularity is high.Just like our Constitution you could amend it through the General Assembly,and a vote from the P5.He is a reformer with more Global experience than all the current contenders.This is only the 2nd time since 1996 that the electoral campaigns for the American president and the United Nations secretary-general are running in parallel.The 1 for 7billion campaign has also recommended a term of 6 or 7 years only which could create a sense of urgency to strengthen -actually transform -the organization.There's a catch.After the one 7 year term any of the P5 nations could be candidates,which in my opinion could be a good thing and make for a better world because to become the UN Secretary General you must be in good standing world wide as a leader not only in your own country but on the world stage.In my humble opinion. I believe we were are and always should be a sovereign nation and not part of a World collective. Understand what I'm saying, our taxes should not go over seas to benefit anyone except for threats to America and severe humanitarian issues. You know what NATO stands for?
