ill save my ugly humor. but seriously it doesn't matter, who cares. its not a dictator or anything on the money, its still worth the same. does it need to be changed? I don't think it needs to be but I don't really care that it is being changed. as long as I can still spend it the same way, who cares?

I don't like the idea of printing money to print money and make change to make a change. However, if they are going to, I don't have a problem with it. It all spends the same and folds in my wallet the same way.Jackson was adamantly pro slavery, staunch democrat, and was responsible for the Trail of Tears movement due to not enforcing a supreme court ruling on the legality of the State of Georgia taking native American lands. Harriet Tubman, on the other hand risked life and limb crossing back and forth into the South over 19 times in 10 years to rescue 300 slaves. Knowing full well if she got caught, it would mean a fate worse than death because she fought for what she believed in...Andrew Jackson seemed to go with the political flow. If we are looking for a historical figure with a good story, I agree with her.

We need to integrate Black History into American History. They should be one in the same. Not sure that Harriet Tubman was as much of a history maker as say, Frederick Douglass:

Douglass first ran for president in 1848 on the Liberty Party ticket and as a vice presidential candidate in 1856 on the Political Abolitionist party. Douglass tried to capture the top political office again with Victoria Woodhull as a running mate with the Equal Rights Party in 1872 and again with the Republican Party in 1888. In addition to being a politician, Douglass was a famous educator, writer and public speaker.

I really do not think it matters anymore. Things change its life, how many of us even use cash anymore? As for Jackson in 1830 Martin Van Buren put support behind Andrew Jackson, slave owner and racist from the South. At his height of slave ownership he had 150 slaves, and owned an estimated 300+ over his life time. In 1832 Jackson was elected as the president of the united states he was the FIRST Democrat president as we know the party to be called. Andrew Jackson’s history included brutality towards Native Americans hunting run away slaves and Dueling. He was also the first president to invite the public to the white house for the inauguration. The only nice thing I can say about the man is he is the ONLY President to Balance the Budget and pay off the National debt, so there is that ::Shrug::

It was a different world then and it will be a different world in another 200 years. What does it matter who's face is on the 20 Dollar bill. Maybe we should rotate them every 20 years? With people of Historical note.

I was struck by this news as well LCpl Tad Cunningham. I know there has been discussion at a high level for a couple years now that the faces on the denominations are not diverse enough. The choice of Harriet Tubman allows the Treasury to check two boxes in one swoop - black and woman. Harriet Tubman was an abolitionist who helped rescue slaves. As somebody who went against the status quo of her time in supporting true freedom from slavery I applaud her. There are too many who believe they are oppressed because of choices they have made.

I would kinda like to see nothing but US presidents and founding fathers stay on our currency. Maybe give old President Polk a 30 year run on the 10 note and the cool looking ones with chops we forgot about. But if the decision has been made to replace Jackson with someone other than a president, Harriet is a good choice.

I suppose I wouldn't have an issue with it if (1) we regularly changed the faces on the obverse of the most common bills rather than the whims of ever-changing popularity and (2) the effort wasn't from the start to put a woman on the bill.

Honestly it makes no difference. It's just a change that we get to experience in our lives. Of course we could break down the reasons why certain individuals rate to be on our currency (the president argument is poor, seeing as many non president individuals were put on U.S. Currency), however, this kind of change is normal. Going with the current times and changes, this choice is an appropriate one.

She risked herself and did a good thing. But I don't know that it has anything to do with currency or running this nation... Typically one must be a President, founding father or member of government associated with the Treasury to be on currency.

We have a whole month dedicated to Black history and museums devoted to the topic. She is in our history books and is highly esteemed (rightly so) for her efforts with the Underground Railroad to help free slaves. Every school child learns her name. She's probably on a postage stamp. Is that not enough recognition?

If we are to break with tradition, there are others in gov't that come to mind who are more deserving.... Frederick Douglas, for example.

We are in the era of politically correctness. Andy's done a just job on the $20. Personally, I could give a rat's a$$ as long as the bills get paid. The way I look at it - in a few years there will be no money anyway. Everything is going more and more electronic. You can pay with your smart phone now. I've got many customers who transfer money this way. I had someone tell me in Sweden there's hardly any hand currency anymore. I may not see it in my working life time, but I think it's just around the corner.
I hate seeing it come to this as then the government will have more control over our lives.

LCpl Tad Cunningham & TSgt Hunter Logan Absolutely no issue with making her a part of the reverse side of our currency, but we should have our front side of the currency remain with the founding fathers, great Presidents, or members of the Government that started this nation in the beginning - I'd have an issue with any person that wasn't part of that group I just mentioned. I do not think that we should so readily dismiss our past good or bad. does Harriet Tubman deserve to be shown the thanks of a grateful nation absolutely, but not at the expense of our past my biggest problem with this however is do any of you know how much money our Govt will be spending to change the face on any bill smaller than a 50. According to the US mint there were 8.6 billion twenty dollar bills in circulation in 2015, and it costs 10.5 cents to mint a $20 bill making the total cost to phase out of the Andrew Jackson $20 would be more than 911 million dollars. Don't you think the Obama administration has spent enough.

About time. It is incredibly insulting to half of the population for a woman to not be on a single currency note, just as it is for African-Americans. Not that currency pictures really affect anyone's lives, but it is only right we should recognize that not all great Americans were/are White males.

I think this country is going to hell in a hand basket. The liberal/socialist/fascist left is the problem, they have disregarded all history, made a mockery of all good Americans and the military, and are hell bent on destroying the fabric of this country. They have succeeded in ruining the leadership capabilities in the military, and removed almost all good leaders at all levels. There are few who will withstand the rigors of this inane way, but mind you the next revolution is around the corner. This isn't the start, this is about 2/3's the way done. This movement to replace individuals on the money, remove the word "God" from everything, and embrace the muslim faith is appalling.
