What do you think of Donald Trump's success so far?

I have been dumbfounded by Donald Trump's popularity, absolutely dumbfounded. I thought - for sure - he would flame out when they started talking issues. I was way wrong. Now I hope Rubio can find a way. What do you think?

It's amazing how so many turn a blind eye to what each candidate has done and promising to do. Personally, it would be the best thing for Rubio to bow out and throw his full support behind Cruz. If he did that, the Republican Party would stand strong.

People aren't smart enough for "issues". Trump is running a masterful campaign, and he's going to win. Rubio doesn't stand a chance.

I do not think that a Trump presidency is a definite. HOWEVER, I do believe that he is on FIRE and headed straight for the Republican NOMINATION.

Outstanding...our country may need a non-politically correct, non-politician to make us great again. Being a successful business man (and entertainer) he'll be able to make the right decisions without fear of re-election or offending another country.

I am not a Trump fan, but I think his success stems from fact that people are sick of politics, sick of dancing around the issues, sick of politicians. Trump speaks what's on his mind, good or bad, right or wrong; he might flip flop, but he doesn't dance. He's not a career politician. This alone appeals to a lot of people. He's not afraid to be blunt about the issues; the more politically incorrect he is, the more his appeal grows.
With all that said, I'm surprised he's going this strong for this long. Whether or not he's there later this year is yet to be seen. The only thing I really find appealing about him is, democrats hate him, the GOP establishment hats him, the media hates him. He's not a political elitist and that appeals to me... For the record, I don't have a dog in this fight yet. Not a snowball's chance in hell I'll vote for Hillary or Bern-out. I don't know if I can pinch my nose hard enough to vote Trump. I like Carson but don't think he's capable on fiscal or foreign policy. Not a Rubio fan and Cruz hasn't convinced me yet. Quite frankly, I don't like any of the choices right now.

I am surprised by Trump's success as well, I don't get it. I don't like the 'bully' personality type that I think Trump represents. I don't like the level of superficialness I see in almost all candidates. I don't see Trump winning the general election, even though he will be running against Hilliary. I am deployed and with the absentee ballot problems, not sure my vote will even count.

I think he is a refreshing change of pace (from the standard politicians). I haven't ruled him out, but I'll admit that he hasn't given me much depth with his policies.

Considering the gullibility of the average American voter, I'm not surprised by much in politics these days. Debates are just extensions of reality shows. Real issues don't get people elected. If they did, we wouldn't have career politicians.

Trump is successful because he know how to get the short attention-ed angry voters that want to let their steam out. He is master in utilizing the news circle just like promoting his TV reality show. Rubio is the only candidate on the stage that can fight Trump on that media field. Cruz is the only candidate remain on the stage that still talking about the constitution. I rooted for Cruz.

Trump is pandering to his base which is pissed off folks who are sick of the status quo. That works great in primaries, but in the event that he wins the nomination, he needs to find a way to reach out to the folks who don't fall under the "base" demographic described above. If he can't do that, he WILL lose.

The GOP clown car is getting smaller and smaller. The last standing clown will not win the Presidency. It's almost impossible to win the Executive Branch in a nationwide election. There are not enough uneducated people in the US to vote against their best interest.

Not sure where my vote is going yet but my thoughts are as follows:

He is the Howard Stern / Hulk Hogan of politics. We won't know how he is as a president until (if) he gets elected. As a billionaire-businessman you have to believe that he is an intelligent and extremely capable administrator. I would hope that he is actually the best kind of organizational administrator, the kind that could put successful teams together at the top echelons and make decisions informed by the best advisors.

I remember when I was young the president was well respected (Regan), now we have a terminal dislike for career politicians everywhere. If you don't get a career politician for president who else could fill the role? Someone from the American business sector is the only alternative. Hopefully you could agree that America produces the best companies in the world, which are themselves extremely complex organizations requiring excellent administration at the top.

The merits of Trump [if any] I think are unseen but I like the idea of a non-career politician in office. If Trump gets elected we may find out -exactly- how powerful our president really is. If the president says build a wall and deport a million people will it actually happen? (Compare to current president who instead of saying 'close Guantanamo now' says 'I wish congress would lift these roadblocks so maybe I could recommend to someone that they should close Guantanamo')

I hope his run for office pushes more executives to run in 2020 and beyond.

I voted for Cruz in the primary, in no small part because he approached us for input and to answer questions. This does not mean I wouldn't vote for Trump in the general election. There are a few reasons:
1st and foremost Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The biggest reason is to vote against either of these two candidates in my opinion.
2nd Trump has a track record of being able to recover organizations from deep financial issues.
3rd Trump may not be able to make Mexico pay for that wall, but I am sure he will finally do something positive about enforcing immigration law and maybe even reduce illegal immigration substantially.
4th He speaks like he is proud to be an American. OK he isn't eloquent, but there is no mistaking that he is proud of the USA.
5th He isn't part of whatever issue and influence is currently effecting the current crop of elected officials.
