What do you think about President Obama dressing down a reporter who asked about the Americans imprisoned in Iran?

Earlier I had sent an email to the "government" hoping that the the USA could leverage the Iranian Nuclear deal to convince Iran to release Christian pastor Saeed Abedini, retired U.S. Marine Amir Hekmati, Washington Post Tehran bureau chief Jason Rezaian and former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who went missing in Iran years ago.
I pray for wisdom for President Obama and his wife daily as I have done for President's going back to George H.W. Bush soon after I became a Christian.
Believers are instructed to part for our leaders that we may live peaceful and quiet lives.

I think it was fair game. The way the reporter worded the question implied something that was untrue, and the President used a tactful way (IMO) of making that point.

This is not a deal with Iran but a gift to Iran....Write and call your congressmen and Senators and get this so called deal stopped before it is too late. How in the world can we negotiate with the largest State sponsor of terrorism....SMH

LTC Stephen F. Even though I'm not a big fan of Obama the reporter was way out of line and I think Obama replied correctly in this situation. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call personally from the COS of the White House or Press Secretary on his question and the way he posed it!

After reading your response SGT Jeremiah B., I had to go back and read the question CBS Reporter Major Garrett asked. While he was very blunt especially in his second "paragraph," the question about what the administration will do for these four Americans does not seem to me to be especially loaded. Here is the question he asked:
"As you well know there are four Americans in Iran. Three held on trumped-up charges, according to your administration, and one whereabouts unknown," he said, referring to Christian pastor Saeed Abedini, retired U.S. Marine Amir Hekmati, Washington Post Tehran bureau chief Jason Rezaian and former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who went missing in Iran years ago.
Garrett continued, "Can you tell the country, sir, why you are content with all the fanfare around this deal to leave the conscience of this nation, the strength of this nation, unaccounted for in relation to these four Americans?"
What I find especially ironic is that the situation reminds me of the 1979 Tehran hostage situation in the Carter Administration. Both the Carter administration and the Obama administration seem to prefer backdoor diplomacy to a more confrontational diplomacy used by Reagan and Bush II.

How else would anyone expect his to respond? He is like a spoiled child who has never been told "No", then throws a tantrum when denied something. After all, he has enjoyed six years of invisibility, hidden from public view by a press corps filled with propagandists rather than journalists. In this case, he reminded me of the naked "Invisible Man" from the Monty Python sketch who prances into a pub where the patrons laugh because they can see him. Well, Mr. President, someone in the press corps finally "saw you". How embarrassing that must have felt. No wonder he lashed out...

It is a disgrace. If you want to make it simple, we just need to refer to the preamble of our declaration of independence, the declaration itself, as well as our constitution and ALL of its amendments. To think that he is above accountability and response to very serious questions then he should have the integrity, which I doubt he has, to resign. No elected official, or no Government employee should expect not to be accountable. They expect this from the lowest private in our armed forces. I expect it from all my chain of command.

I thought the question was fair, and the president was not professional in doing it. The American families have questions and deserve answers. Why not tell Iran gives the 4 prisoners for the deal. The president needs to listen and take into account what the Joint Chief Staff said, and respect it. The JCS has been there done that. The president has not. Also, the mother of the Benghazi tragedy where her son was killed, she has asked the question, "What told them to stand down?" I want to know! Now, think about it, what would You do if your loved one was in prison or had been killed. I would think you would want answers to your questions.

I honestly think the Iran deal should be grounds to impeach him but the republicans have lost their spine.
