What do you think about a Dinosaur name in ‘Jurassic World’ which is so ‘Racist’?

Many people are impressed with the movie Jurassic World.
However there has been an uproar in Britain and other places which are sensitized to any and every "racial" issue. Some moviegoers began complaining about one of the dinosaur species in the movie called Pachycephalosaurus. Characters in the movie used an abbreviation, and thus the movie line that came into question:
“The Pachys are out of containment!”
Packy is considered an insulting term for Pakistani's and other south Asians.
"British comedian Mobeen, also known as “Guzzy Bear,” took issue with this term and called for a boycott of “Jurassic World."
Personally I think this is much ado about nothing.

People are just too damn sensitive these days and that's part of the problem with society today. Really, with all the legit societal issues going on around us today, this is what people choose to get upset about. For me, this is a non-issue.

For the record, my parents were British citizens until the day they died. When I enlisted I gave up my dual citizenship and became a citizen of the USA.
I grew up listening to the Goon Show radio program with Peter Sellers playing many roles including South Asians. I learned never to take my self too seriously. It is sad that some Brits get bent out of shape because of perceived insults.

This is an AMERICAN film. I doubt that the producers would know that "Paki" was a racial slur in the UK. I certainly didn't. Movies are suppose to provide a suspension of disbelief. If I saw a horde of Pachycephalosaurus running around, I'd want to shorten it to when I warn someone. All these people thinking that everyone is racist is really starting to tick me off. Lighten up. If I don't like you, its definitely not because of your skin, its because you are an unlikable person in general in my opinion.

Besides, Pachycephalosaurus just sounds stupid when you yell it out.

I think it's people looking for any sort of excuse to claim being discriminated against.

I finally saw it this weekend, and as far as I can recall, it was only used once, and it's not like those dinosaurs could be seen having characteristics typically attributed to people from that region.

Agreed, its shouldn't be an issue. I think our society has become too sensitive on a lot of things, particularly race. The movie line wasn't in any reference to anything other than the dinosaur, yet people took offense...my advice to that is to grow some thicker skin or at least take things into context in which it is given.

Give me a break, I grew up in a neighborhood whereas my family was literally 1 of 2 minority families in the area, and people in the area were more friendly to the mixed causasian/african-american family vs the asian/pacific islander heritage of my mom, me and my sister. Did some of the racial terms I heard growing up hurt, most from kids but some from a few adults? Yes, but it didn't make me overly sensitive anytime someone said anything remotely similar. My wife calls me and my 6month old son twinkies when we dress alike because twinkies come in a 2 pack (TWINkies), not because we are yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Never did I take offense to her statement because I knew the context in which she said it.

Yes, i am sure the contraction of this dinosaurs longish name to Pachy is a direct yet covert poke at Paki's as a racial jab, especially since the movie had oh so much to do with Pakistan or the Pakistani people...In short, get over yourselves you sanctimonious twits! Not everything is about you!
